Taking a sleep test is now easier than ever

Home Sleep Testing Steps

Our home-based diagnostic PSG (polysomnography) sleep study device allows you to undergo testing comfortably in the familiar environment of your own bed. And the great news is we can NOW fit your device over a singlet, making the process even less invasive and more convenient than ever before.

Step 1: You will be fitted with a sleep testing device at our clinic. It includes wires on your face and chest connected to a portable device. You can drive, but some prefer having a friend or relative drive due to visible wires.

Step 2: Bring your Medicare card, personal identification, and any health benefit cards. At this appointment, we schedule a follow-up appointment to discuss your results, as well as sending them to your referring GP.

Step 3: Wear a singlet and a button-up shirt. Shower before your appointment because you can’t shower while wearing the device later (Devise cannot get wet)

Step 4: At home, sleep as you normally would. The device records your typical night’s sleep.

Step 5: In the morning, remove the equipment and fill out our post-sleep study questionnaire.

Step 6: Return the equipment to Sleep Apnoea NQ between 8:30 & 9:30 AM the next morning. If this is not possible, let us know to arrange alternatives.

Step 7: Your results will be reported on by Dr. Varga, a Townsville-based sleep physician, and returned in about 2-3 weeks.

Step 8: The testing process requires a 30-minute appointment and is available at an out-of-pocket cost of $100.00. For Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) members, the sleep test is free of charge.
